Scott,
I can't always get to my trackball either, in this situation, but I will try the resizing idea. I am glad you are there, because I would not have thought of that. Thanks for the idea, and I will report on the success of that idea. I can't just now, but I will make the attempt a bit later, and let you know what happens. I am not sure what to do if that doesn't work, but perhaps we can think of something else.Steve

Unfortunately, that is a bug in Windows redrawing code, or perhaps in java.awt as implemented on Windows... not much I can do about it.
Workarounds should include just about anything that triggers a repaint of the main view, including moving the trackball or resizing the window slightly.

Scott, That's what I do. I am referring to a situation in which I click to bring up the color palatte, and then need to look at the model, so I click on "Cancel", and the window itself containing the palatte goes away, but the space it took up is whited out. And yes, I am using a Windows platform for my modes. Steve

I cannot make this happen on my Mac. It may be a problem unique to Windows, if you're on that platform.
What exactly do you mean by "if I don't use it"? On my Mac, I cannot click on the main window until I dismiss the dialog somehow.

One thing I notice with my vZome is that the area covered by the palatte is whited out if I don't use it each time I bring it up. Sometimes I find that I need to look at the model before I can make the color selection, and I can't do that. What causes that, and is there anything you can do about it? it can really become an aggravation at times, when I have to save the model and close it, then reopen it to do anything. maqtoH

Yes, there are several missing features, including "memory" between one instance of the color picker and the next. This was definitely a quick-and-dirty, least-effort implementation; I'll improve the feature in the future.

Hi Scott,
About the only improvement that I can think of regarding the colors is that it would be nice if the selected items' color were highlighted on the color palette, for ease in matching an existing color. The good news is that perfect matches for all of the existing vZome strut & panel colors are available, although they’re sometimes in surprising places on the palette.

Hi Scott,
I tried the new version and it seems to work. I modified the preferences file
and the new conversion system seems to be working. I personally think even the
current warning is unnecessary; if someone opens an old file with a newer
version of a program, modifies it, and then saves it, does that person really
expect the resulting file to be openable by the old version? Is there really
any vZome user out there who will use both this latest 2.1 version and 2.0?
But this is a quibble; it's easy enough to ignore the warning. Having the file
name stay the same is a big time-saver.
I tried the coloring, quit, and restarted and yes that node I modified is still
a funny brownish-green!
I didn't test VRML export.
Cheers,
Brian
